The Department of Musical Arts at the College of Fine Arts at Basra University organized an awareness seminar entitled (The Dangers of the Drug Phenomenon on Society) for Assistant Professor Dr. Sabbar Shabout
In the Department of Musical Arts, the symposium was moderated by Dr. Adnan Khalaf Sahi, Head of the Department, in the presence of a group of students
The symposium included important points that seek to educate university students about this dangerous scourge that kills society, as drugs are considered one of the most deadly pests in society and humanity and their negative effects on all aspects of the life of their users.
The symposium also showed the reasons for the prevalence of the drug phenomenon, including prevailing unemployment, poverty, moral decay and far from the norms of society, religion and its culture, in addition to the lack of awareness and the absence of deterrence laws that limit and muzzle this phenomenon.
 Educating youth and the various pests of society about the danger of this phenomenon, directing and encouraging young people to work and providing them with job opportunities that are commensurate with their qualifications and abilities, enacting laws and legislations that eliminate this phenomenon, explaining the prohibition of drugs confirmed in all divine laws.
