Under the patronage of the president of the University of Basra, Prof. Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, and under the supervision of the dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, assistant professor Dr. Ali Abdullah al-Kanani, a group of students from the plastic arts department conducted a volunteer campaign for afforestation in the college's gardens with various types of trees, plants and roses in order to enhance efforts to increase green spaces in the college and stimulate the planting of trees and the development of voluntary work for everyone to preserve the environment and vegetation. 
This campaign comes in support of the efforts of the Ministry of higher education and scientific research to support sustainable development and environmental conservation and the One Million Trees project launched by the ministry.
