The Deanship of the Faculty of Fine Arts, represented by Professor Dr. Mohammed Abdul Zahra Mohammed, received a delegation from the Directorate of environment, where they discussed the mechanisms of joint cooperation between the two sides to face the environmental challenges faced by Iraq, especially in light of climate change and its effects on local communities, including families displaced by drought in the south of the country.
During the visit, Mr. Al-Dean stressed the importance of the Arts in raising public awareness of various environmental issues. He discussed how to use the plastic, dramatic, musical arts and art education to promote public awareness about environmental risks and the importance of preserving the environment.
The delegation also expressed the readiness of the environment directorate to provide the necessary logistical support to both educational and environmental institutions in Basra governorate, reflecting the commitment of both sides to achieve common goals that serve the community and enhance its capabilities to face environmental challenges.
At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to organize joint events and workshops aimed at spreading environmental awareness and promoting the arts as an effective means of communicating with the community.
