Under the patronage of the president of the University, Prof. Dr. Mohannad Jawad al-Asadi, and the supervision of the dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abdul Zahra Mohammed. The Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Basra organized a specialized scientific seminar entitled "Illegal Immigration and its representations in motion pictures"، 
The seminar aimed to shed light on the various motives of illegal immigration, including economic, political and religious factors, in addition to reviewing the social and cultural repercussions of this phenomenon.
The seminar presented by Dr. Alaa Hatem Mohsen, where he analyzed the main causes of illegal immigration, reviewed the most prominent film representations that documented this phenomenon, and the extent of its impact on shaping public awareness about the issue. The seminar also discussed the humanitarian dimensions associated with migration, and its impact on host and expatriate communities alike.
