
Under the kind patronage of the president of Basra University, Dr. Mohannad Jawad al-Asadi, and under the direct supervision of the dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Dr. Mohammed Abdul Zahra Mohammed, the Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Art Education, organized a special art exhibition entitled "The Kufic line between originality and renewal", amid a remarkable academic and artistic presence that included a number of professors and students.
The exhibition aims to promote and develop the importance of Kufic calligraphy as one of the finest Islamic Arts, combining historical originality and artistic renewal, where students have created calligraphic paintings that reflect the aesthetic of this ancient calligraphy, which is known for its geometric precision and its mastered technique, making it one of the rare fonts that require high skills in execution.
The exhibition included a group of calligraphic paintings that reviewed the various types of Kufic calligraphy, executed in multiple artistic styles and materials, under the supervision of assistant teacher Mazen Jaber Matouk, where the works came to reflect the diversity and innovation in this authentic art, providing an artistic experience that combines the spirit of heritage and contemporary expression.
