Under the patronage of the president of the University of Basra, Prof. Dr. Muhannad Jawad al-Asadi, and the supervision and direct support of the dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Dr. Mohammed Abdul Zahra Mohammed, the Department of Art Education held the festival "revival of the heritage of 15 peoples" on the occasion of the birth of Imam al-Mahdi (AJ).
The festival witnessed a wide participation of professors and students of the art education department, who were keen to present various events that highlight the authentic Iraqi cultural heritage and reflect the manifestations of the popular celebration of this blessed occasion.
The festival was marked by artistic and heritage performances that reflected the rich artistic beauty of Iraqi civilization, where students wore traditional folk costumes inspired by the ancient history of Iraq, such as the Arab abaya, men's dishdasha, embroidered women's folklore clothing, baggy trousers with a saya, in addition to traditional bridal clothes that were worn on religious and social occasions.
The atmosphere of the festival was not without the distribution of sweets and popular cuisines that Iraqis used to serve on this occasion, as this contributed to creating an atmosphere of joy and celebration among those present, and brought to mind the authentic Iraqi customs associated with religious occasions.
The festival concluded with a festive atmosphere, which was punctuated by words of thanks and appreciation by the dean of the faculty, represented by Professor Dr. Mohammed Abdul Zahra Mohammed, to the participating students and professors, stressing the importance of holding such events that promote cultural and religious awareness, and entrench the heritage values in the souls of new generations.
