As part of its efforts in commemorating national events and remembering sacrifices, the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Basra participated in the anniversary events of the martyrs of the March 17 uprising, under the slogan "The Sun Never Sets", which was held by the Faculty of Arts, in cooperation with the gathering of academics and the Martyrs Foundation in Basra governorate.
The event witnessed a wide academic and official presence, with the participation of representatives of various faculties and official institutions at the university, as well as prominent cultural and social figures.
The event included a documentary lecture presented by Professor Dr. Nasser Samari Jafar, dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, in which he reviewed the heroic exploits of the martyrs of the uprising, highlighting the great challenges faced by the Iraqi people during that period, in light of the repression and persecution practiced by the defunct regime. He also emphasized the role of art and literature in documenting these events and communicating them to future generations.
