Basra University launches the theatrical festival of laboratory applications presentations: a celebration of student creativity and in honor of an academic career
Under the patronage of the president of the University of Basra, Prof. Dr. Muhannad Jawad al-Asadi, and under the direct supervision of the dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Prof. Dr. Nasser Samari Jafar, the Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Performing Arts, launched the activities of the theatrical festival of laboratory application presentations under the title "Dr. Tariq Al-Athari course", for the period from April 14 to 17.
This festival aims to present the students ' practical products in the field of theatrical performance, which comes as the culmination of their academic and applied efforts, under the supervision of a group of specialized professors of the Department. The festival is also an educational and artistic space that reflects the development of students ' skills in directing, acting, and theatrical design, within an interactive environment that enhances the quality of education and enriches the theatrical scene in Basra governorate.
The opening ceremony, which was held on the stage of the Fine Arts Theater, opened the translation hall with welcoming words by the supervising committees of the festival, followed by an artistic performance entitled "Elektra: Symphony of rebellion", prepared and directed by student Zahra Makki, and under the supervision of Dr. Hazem Abdel Majid, to reflect a renewed dramatic vision pulsating with existential questions and aesthetic dimension.
This was followed by a second theatrical performance entitled "words and music" directed by student binine Fouad, and under the supervision of the same doctor, on the stage of the central theater, providing a theatrical experience of an expressive nature rich in music and symbol.
The festival program includes the presentation of seven theatrical performances, distributed at a rate of two performances per day, except for the last day, which will end with one special performance, with the wide participation of students of the department who have shown advanced levels of mastery and innovation. 
This festival represents an important station within the map of cultural and artistic activities in Basra governorate, which contributes to supporting the Iraqi theatrical movement, and emphasizes the role of academic institutions in preparing a new generation of promising theatrical artists.
