
The Department of Fine Arts at the College of Fine Arts, University of Basrah, held a scientific symposium on the Journey of Civilizations exhibition, which was held in the Great Exhibition Hall at the College of Fine Arts
The seminar, which was held by Dr. Hussein Abdel Ali, Professor Abdel Aziz Al-Dahr and Professor Hassan Abdel Shaheed, and moderated by Dr. Asma Samir, Head of the Plastic Arts Department at the College of Fine Arts, shed light on the idea and objectives of the exhibition, introducing students to the experience of art and society, the most important techniques used, and asking questions to professors and artists
Where Dr. Asmaa presented a definition that summed up the idea of the exhibition by saying, The Journey of Civilizations is an artistic experience looking at the aesthetics of the Iraqi environment and recording the momentous moments and the daily scene, starting from the city of Basra all the way to Baghdad This experience represents a revival of the experience of the artists of the Impressionist movement when they chose to leave the studio hall to represent nature by making use of the energy of color, light and reflections as pillars to renew the artistic vision, as well as introducing the students of the College of Fine Arts to international art movements and Iraqi artists
