Under the patronage of the president of the University of Basra, Prof. Dr. Saad Shahin Hammadi, the University of Basra opened its second cultural week with Ferdowsi Mashhad University in the Islamic Republic of Iran in the presence of the representative of the minister of higher education and scientific research, director of the Department of missions and Cultural Relations Dr. Hazem Bagher, the president of Ferdowsi Mashhad University Dr. one of my officers and representative of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mr. Mojtaba Hosseini, members of the Council of the University of Basra and a large audience of government officials as well as academics and students .  ‏

As for the purpose of renewing the Cultural Forum, the rector of the University, professor Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, said, " this forum, sponsored by the University of Basra, is its second and companion to the first version, which was established by Ferdowsi University in December last year on the territory of the Islamic Republic, where today's forum aims to introduce the culture, literature and arts of the two universities and strengthen the academic relationship between them in implementation of the terms of the academic protocol concluded between our university and Ferdowsi University, which includes the exchange of experiences and cultures according to a Supervisors of graduate students, joint research teams and joint publication in journals In addition to holding joint scientific and cultural conferences and seminars and activating fellowships, many of which have been achieved so far on the ground, " he said .‏

Shahin added-the cultural week includes on its first and second days the holding of many scientific and cultural activities, including the holding of scientific lectures by professors from Ferdowsi University, folklore performances, religious demonstrations for the hosted teams to introduce the visual audience to Persian culture, the opening of a calligraphy and decoration workshop at the Faculty of Fine Arts in cooperation with the Cultural Center, an exhibition of plastic painting, a joint book exhibition, a forum, a Quranic competition, joint futsal, chess and volleyball matches, and many cultural and artistic events .  ‏

For his part, the president of Ferdowsi Mashhad University expressed his gratitude for strengthening the bonds of cultural and scientific relations between Iraqi and Iranian universities by saying : I offer the best welcome and greetings to Iraqi universities, especially Basra University and this day's Forum, which represents a great importance between the two universities in deepening cultural and scientific relations .the commonalities between us exceed every description and we are now focusing on expanding those commonalities. we are proud at Ferdowsi Mashhad University of the presence of about (1000) Iraqi students enrolled in graduate study for Master's and doctoral degrees and various specialties. ‏

This was said by the representative of the minister of higher education and scientific research, Dr. Hazem Baqer, speaking about the forum : The cultural week between the two universities represents one of the most important goals of the Ministry of higher education and scientific research to leave the solitary and local tracks and achieve a kind of scientific and cultural cross-fertilization with international scientific systems, science and knowledge have reached a stage of importance in our modern times, the importance of the power of capital presence and The Ministry of higher education and scientific research is keen on building cultural and academic partnerships with friendly and fraternal universities, and I congratulate the University of Basra on the success of its forum today, as it has charted for itself an international path that suits the identity of this ancient city through holding various forum activities .
