The minister of higher education and scientific research, Dr. Naim al-Aboudi, announced the submission of more than three thousand international students to study at Iraqi universities for the academic year 2024/2023.

In his speech during the first scholarship conference held by the Higher Committee for the development of education in Iraq, he stressed that the Ministry of higher education and scientific research has succeeded in establishing its flagship branded project (study in Iraq) to attract international students to study at Iraqi universities, whose official platforms have documented more than three thousand applicants from Arab and foreign countries, revealing at the same time the ministry's readiness to hold an internationalization conference on education, which will be held next November to host a selection of universities that are leading the first quarter of the Shanghai ranking results in order to expand the horizons of partnership between Iraqi universities and their international counterparts and consolidate the vision of the Ministry of higher education and scientific research Towards the transformation to the Bologna Process, global openness and scientific keeping pace with the changes of academic knowledge.

 He added that the Ministry of higher education and scientific research has thoughtfully employed the energies of scientific and administrative scholarships in the academic institution and that its procedures are not limited to approving the missions and updating the scholarship guides, but it also has the responsibility of scholarships granted to Iraq, explaining that the ministry has completed since the beginning of this year and so far more than six hundred fellowships as well as research grant programs, visiting professor and scientific sabbatical, not to mention memorandums of understanding with Arab and foreign educational institutions and cooperation with competent international organizations.

The conference events witnessed a number of official speeches, presentations and a review of success stories achieved by Iraqi students on scholarships at universities around the world.
