His doctoral dissertation at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Basra discussed cultural transformations in the discourse of power in the Iraqi theatrical text – selected models.

The thesis presented by the researcher Alaa Yousef Yacoub included highlighting the concept of power discourse and cultural transformations, which is one of the prominent and dominant topics of its close connection with the movements of the current situation at all levels.

The thesis aims to highlight an important problem suffered by the Iraqi theater in particular and the Arab theater in general, namely the cultural metaphor as well as identifying the effectiveness and quality of cultural discourse in the Iraqi theatrical text.

The thesis concluded that the theatrical text falls within the human cultural production, which can be subjected to the colonial discourse, colonialism and globalization, which began to creep quietly and rationally into the minds of the creators who produced this universal literature .
