A master's thesis in the College of Fine Arts at Basra University examined the controversial relationship between color and expression in contemporary Arab sculpture

The message presented by student Thuraya Hussein Kazem consisted of four chapters

The first chapter deals with (the general framework of the research) as well as the importance of research, the mechanistic need, the objectives of the research, and the temporal, spatial and thematic research limits.

The second chapter, the theoretical framework, was divided into three sections. The first topic dealt with the concept of controversy, color and expression. As for the second topic, it dealt with the work of color in the art of sculpture. The third topic included contemporary Arab sculpture. The third chapter included the research community, which contained (100) sculptural works. Determine the research sample that was defined as (20) sculptural works

As for the fourth chapter, the researcher included and discussed the results, which she reached through analyzing the sample forms

The message aims at the intentional selection of colors, whether they are natural colors for the raw material or artificial colors. The sculptor's vision and aesthetic experiences depend on the composition of the artwork according to well-studied technical controls.

Conclusions 00

Beauty and art are an expression that is not subject to the sensory perception represented in the mind in addition to mental perception or understanding, as it is subject to conscience.

Symbol is one of the important tools in expression. Expression varies according to time and place, as the artist seeks to develop effective solutions to the problems of society through symbols and connotations according to his aesthetic experience
