Basra University organizes the third edition of its Film Festival amid a wide attendance and student brilliance

Under the patronage of the president of the University of Basra, Prof. Dr. Muhannad Jawad al – Asadi, and under the supervision of the dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Prof. Dr. Nasser Samari Jafar, the Faculty of Fine Arts-audio-visual department, organized the University of Basra Film Festival in its third session, which was held at the cinema mall cinema "Basra Times Square".
The organization of this festival came to form an artistic platform to showcase the products of fourth-stage students, as well as outstanding films by graduates of previous years, in a step aimed at supporting young creative energies and presenting them to a wider audience. 16 films were selected for the competition and screening, distributed over two days, amid an impressive presence of academics, intellectuals and those interested in film Affairs.
The film evaluation committee included a constellation of prominent names in the artistic community, namely: the able artist Mahmoud Abu al-Abbas, the artist Majid Abdel Wahed, and the writer and screenwriter Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Saad, where the committee selected three winning films from the category of fourth stage students, and three more from the graduates category.
Dean Nasser Samari also described that this festival is an artistic cross-pollination between the University and the community, and that there are other projects that will see the light of day that will provide the community with valuable works that will leave an imprint on the visual Street.
In his speech, the director of the festival, Dr. Baha Al-Kazemi, expressed his happiness with the success achieved by the festival, noting that it represents a springboard towards more mature and professional film projects in the coming years. He also appreciated the interactive and supportive role of the audience, while at the same time appreciating the continuous support of the university presidency and the Deanship of the faculty for the festival.
The festival concluded with honoring the winners and the organizing and artistic committees that contributed to the success of this outstanding cultural and artistic event in the city.
