Under the auspices of the president of the University of Basra, Prof. Dr. Mohannad Jawad al-Asadi, and under the supervision of the dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Prof. Dr. Nasser Samari Jaafar, the psychological counseling unit at the Faculty of Fine Arts organized an awareness seminar entitled "from violence to beauty: the role of Arts in addressing family extremism".
The seminar aimed at introducing the participants to the concept of family extremism, highlighting its causes and behavioral manifestations, highlighting the therapeutic and educational role of the arts as an effective means of reducing stress and reducing violent behaviors, as well as promoting positive communication within the family through creative activities.
The seminar presented by Assistant Professor Dr. ban Mohamed Ali, who discussed in her lecture the mechanisms of employing visual and Performing Arts in creating a more interactive family environment, and how artistic expression contributes to opening new paths for dialogue, understanding and beauty instead of anger and extremism.
