Among the performances, he won the award for best vocal performance at the festival, the Iraqi (Tigers) show, by the young theater director Abd al-Hassan Nuri Abbas (36 years), who performed with a distinctive voice the role of a parrot and a tiger in a unique show about the Corona virus and the forest.
Abbas said: "In fact, I am very happy that I participated in this festival, an international festival and certainly an international participation. Through it I presented a beautiful short story, which is about the topic of Corona, the reason for the spread of this disease, and how to prevent this disease. Hoping that everyone will like it."
Abbas used to produce live shows for children before the outbreak of the Corona epidemic, but he presented his participation in this festival via the Internet.
About that, he said, “We are sitting at home due to the curfew. I was happy to try to do something simple with the things I had in the house, and produce a simple story to participate in the festival. I was able to handle the basic things that I owned. Of course, I needed to. To other things, but transportation is difficult at the present time and most of the stores are closed, so I could not buy them. I used simple things. “I am very proud of Basra because it managed to organize an international festival in a short time and in a very difficult situation I mean.”
The festival, which was organized electronically, attracted artists from 15 countries in the Arab world and beyond, such as Switzerland, Italy and Colombia
The main topic of the first edition of the festival, which was held on the first and second of June and broadcasted online, was the emerging corona virus and how to prevent its spread
Festival director Saif Al-Din Al-Hamdani said, "This is our first start, and it is on the Internet. Of course, these are very unusual circumstances, for all countries of the world."
He added, "We tried to make a smile from inside the house. You know for sure there is a psychological state, a social condition within the family. I am not used now to a new system. This system we tried to enter the house."
