Under the auspices of the president of the University of Basra, Prof. Dr. Muhannad Jawad al – Asadi, and under the supervision of the dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Prof. Dr. Nasser Samari Jafar, and in compliance with the directives of the Ministry of higher education and scientific research in supporting sustainability initiatives and promoting environmental awareness within the campus; a number of students of the third stage/ Division (C) in the Department of plastic arts-morning study, implemented a volunteer campaign for afforestation in the gardens of the college.
The campaign aims to expand the green area within the college by planting multiple types of trees, plants and roses, which contributes to improving the university environment and spreading the culture of concern for nature and preserving vegetation cover. The initiative also seeks to consolidate the spirit of volunteerism among students and involve them in programs that enhance their responsibility towards their educational environment.
The campaign activities were completed under the supervision of Professor Dr. Tahrir Ali Hussein, teacher Dr. Nourse Hamid jemid, and assistant teacher Amani Qasem, who stressed the importance of these activities in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals and creating a healthy and attractive university environment.
This initiative comes within the framework of the directives of the Ministry of higher education and scientific research to promote responsible environmental practices within universities and activate the role of students in projects that support environmental awareness and Community Action.
