A workshop for Arabic calligraphy within the activities of the first annual festival of Arabic calligraphy arts and forming the one dimension

The College of Fine Arts at the University of Basra held an artistic workshop for Arabic calligraphy within the activities of the second day of the first annual festival for the arts of Arabic calligraphy and the one-dimension. The workshop, which was attended by a group of artists and calligraphers, and a number of young talents in this field included the methods and techniques of Arabic calligraphy within practical lessons from a professor in the specialization Arabic calligraphy I researched the secrets of calligraphy, its aesthetics, its types, and how to implement painting and decoration

The lecturer, the calligrapher, Ali Jassim, talked about the history and importance of Arabic calligraphy, saying .. Arabic calligraphy is one of the arts that has received attention from the Arabs because there is no writing, so copying manuscripts and supplications is related to the history of writing, so the calligraphy carried the types of Arab culture. Through holding exhibitions, support, providing supplies, communicating with cultural institutions, and joining forces to revive the art of Arabic calligraphy

For his part, the Dean of the College, Dr. Ali Al-Kinani, said that this festival, in its first version, is a wedding for calligraphers, as it attracted talents from all parts of the city and from various disciplines to be a starting point for restoring the spirit of this art and highlighting its pioneers, its importance and aesthetics

Al-Kinani added that we invite artistic talents to participate in all exhibitions and workshops held by the college because it is considered an incubator for talents and energies
