The College of Fine Arts intends to launch an art therapy program

As part of the college’s policy to support the needs of society, the Deanship of the College of Fine Arts intends to open a project and art therapy program that plays an important role in treating many mental and physical disorders and for promoting mental health.
Dr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kanani, director and founder of the program, stated that this program will be the first of its kind in Iraq, and that focusing on the process of making art as therapy is an approach that is one of the oldest forms of psychological treatment.
Al-Kinani added that this type of treatment has an important effect in difficult times, especially what the individual goes through in this age, and explained that man naturally turns to art when he searches for psychological comfort, and examples are many in the direction of many artists to express their feelings, protest, or anger with actions. Diverse artistic, which represents an illustration of the deep human need to express himself, so we headed to establish this humanitarian project that will provide its services to many groups that need such treatment.
He indicated that the program consists of a group of academic professors in various creative and psychological disciplines to support the project and the success of the program, which will start its work as of next week according to a specific schedule and provides its services free of charge to the community.
