The message presented by the researcher (Batool Shaker Mohammed) aims to highlight the feminist discourse as a critical and resistant discourse that seeks to dismantle the dominant intellectual and cultural centralities.
The thesis included a study of how contemporary women artists worked to dismantle the intellectual and cultural structures associated with male domination within the Contemporary Figurative discourse.
The thesis concluded that the contemporary feminist formation was able to produce a visual counter-discourse that worked to dismantle the dominant male forms within art, through the re-representation of the body, identity and feminist self in a way that goes beyond the prevailing traditional patterns.
