A master's thesis in the College of Fine Arts, University of Basra, examined the effectiveness of cultural criticism in contemporary Iraqi formation.

The message presented by the researcher Ali Qassem Zabeen ... included a new critical reading of art, which corresponds to the changes and intellectual transformations of various levels, in order to raise the level of the critical text and its aesthetic discourse.

The research concluded ... that the effectiveness of contemporary Iraqi formation in broadcasting a renaissance discourse is a result of Iraqi plastic artists possessing diverse ideas, identities and disciplines far from art that are open to great horizons.
