The Department of Art Education at the College of Fine Arts held the first comprehensive arts festival on the grounds of Freedom Square in the center of Basra.

In the festival, which was inaugurated by the Dean of the College of Fine Arts, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kinani, he presented many diverse artistic events in the presence of many visual families. The festival included activities for free drawing "symposium" and an exhibition of handicrafts and drawing in various styles produced by students and under the supervision of the department's professors. As well as providing wonderful activities for children's drawings, and a theatrical performance presented by the students of the Art Education Department, as well as musical links and comic shows by the students.
