A master's thesis at the College of Fine Arts, University of Basrah, examined the semantic openness in contemporary Iraqi ceramics. The thesis presented by the researcher (Basma Abdel Latif Abdel Aziz) included the topic of semantic openness, which constitutes the mirror reflecting imagination and intellectual creativity through awareness and perception and the openness of borders between cultures and ideas in the effectiveness of creativity that It appears among the contemporary plastic arts.
The thesis discussed the expression of aesthetic, structural and intellectual visions, the study of the concept of openness and its impact on the formation of ceramic work, and the study of connotations and their multiplicity in the formal structure.
The message aims to reveal the semantic openness in contemporary Iraqi ceramics. The thesis concluded that openness is in essence a mental process, and every mental process is subject to growth and openness, and that the feature of openness as a study is included within the critical analytical studies in knowing art and its projection in the contemporary ceramic plastic movement.
