A master's thesis at the College of Fine Arts, University of Basrah, examined the representations of the American occupation of Iraq in the contemporary Iraqi formation. The thesis concluded that the occupation is one of the major destructive events for countries and societies as a result of the great changes it causes in the political, social and cultural structures and leads to severe repercussions of violence, destruction and loss of life as well as psychological effects.
