The Continuing Education Division at the College of Fine Arts, University of Basra, held an attendance symposium on early marriage. The symposium, which was moderated by Ms. Saja Yasser Hussein, and lectured by Prof. Dr. Rafif Abdel Hafez Muhammad and legal scholar Ali Mahdi, included the topic of early marriage, or what is known as underage marriage, which is official or non-formal marriage. Officially for children under the age of puberty and the majority of those affected are girls.
The symposium also discussed many reasons for early marriage, including poverty, dowry, traditions, laws, illiteracy, and others, and the impact of this marriage on the health of girls from the guardians, which sometimes leads them to death. reduce them.
The symposium was very effective in terms of discussion by the attendees through the questions that were asked and answered by the specialists.
The symposium was also attended by a group of professors, employees and students of the College of Fine Arts.
