His doctoral thesis at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Basra discussed the aesthetics of the sign in Syriac painting.
The thesis presented by the researcher Lami Naguib Moussa included the topic of the sign and the study of Syriac drawings, including the Syriac icon as a major sign that refers what is inside to the world of symbolic signs and the disclosure of these signs and their religious connotations.
The thesis aims to identify the aesthetics of the sign in Syriac painting-a semiotic study.
The thesis concluded that the constructivism of Sumerian art forms and their systems was not carried out to represent material forces, but to embody ideas from which a high vitality was emptied of what is intellectual, transforming them into a sign discourse.
