Under the patronage of the president of the University of Basra, Prof. Dr. Muhannad Jawad al – Asadi, and under the supervision of the dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Prof. Dr. Nasser Samari Jafar, the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Basra – continuing education unit-organized a specialized workshop entitled "gypsum art and its employment in works of art".
The workshop aims to shed light on the artistic potential of gypsum material, to demonstrate its role as a basic aesthetic material in decorating indoor and outdoor spaces, as well as to identify methods of employing it in various creative practices.
The workshop, presented by Dr. Oras Jabbar Suhaim and Dr. Nourse Hamid Majid, included a review of the technical characteristics of gypsum and its potential as an innovative medium in shaping, and also discussed ways to deal with it and shaping techniques to enhance the creativity of participants and encourage them to invest this material in their artistic projects.
The workshop concluded with an interactive discussion session during which the participants presented their inputs and queries on ways to develop their skills in working with gypsum, which contributes to expanding the scope of its uses in the aesthetic and artistic fields.
